The installation process in the following sections describes how to install the latest version of the Kerberos Server on HP-UX 11i v1, HP-UX 11i v2, or HP-UX 11i v3 systems.

Installation Steps

To install Kerberos Server on HP-UX 11i v1, HP-UX 11i v2, or HP-UX 11i v3 operating systems, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in as root.
  2. Download the Kerberos Server depot and move it to the /tmp directory.
  3. Verify that the Kerberos Server depot has been downloaded correctly using the swlist command. For example:
    # swlist -d @ /tmp/<depot_name>

The following output is displayed if the Kerberos Server depot is downloaded properly in an HP-UX 11i v1 system:

The following output is displayed if the Kerberos Server depot is downloaded properly in an HP-UX 11i v2 system:

The following output is displayed if the Kerberos Server depot is downloaded properly in an HP-UX 11i v3 system:

  1. Back up the Kerberos database if it exists on your system before installing the product.
  2. To install the product on a stand-alone system, run the following command at the HP-UX prompt:
    # swinstall -s /tmp/<depot_name>\*
  3. Configure the Kerberos Server using the auto configuration tool, /opt/krb5/sbin/krbsetup, after you install the product. HP recommends that you use the auto configure tool, krbsetup, to auto configure the Kerberos Server.
