Overview

Note: September 2011 web release onwards, all the HP-UX 11i v3 version of WBEM providers and Diagnostics products, are available for download on the "WBEM Management bundle for HP-UX 11i v3" bundle page at https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=WBEMMgmtBundle. This bundle is released only on the web.

Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor environments. The Kernel Providers are used to obtain information about kernel parameters and works in the WBEM environment. The Kernel Providers include the following providers:

  • kctune provider - This provider enables you to obtain and modify information related to the kernel configuration tunable parameters.
  • kcmodule provider - This provider enables you to obtain and modify information about the kernel configuration module parameters.
  • swap provider - This provider enables you to obtain information related to the swap space available on the system.
  • Boot provider - This provider enables you to obtain and modify information related to the boot variables in stable storage.
  • Dump provider - This provider enables you to obtain, create, delete, and modify information related to crash dump configuration details of the system.

Features

The Kernel Providers support the following features:

  • Supports Instance provider feature
    This feature provides information about kernel tunable parameters or kernel configuration module parameters, swap space related parameters, and boot variables. Kernel configuration provider, The kernel tunable parameters, kernel module parameters, boot variables and dump related parameters can be modified using modifyInstance method.
  • Supports enumerateInstances, enumerateInstanceNames, and getInstance methods
    The enumerateInstances method returns all instances of class with all the properties and their respective values. The enumerateInstanceNames method returns the object path of all instances of the class. The getInstance method returns the requested instance with all the properties and their respective values. There will always be only one instance. The createInstance method is used to create an instance of the Crash dump provider. The deleteInstance method is used to delete an instance of the Crash dump provider.
  • Supports multiple client instances.
