Available Enhancements

hp-ux BIND

The Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) is a Berkeley implementation of the Domain Name System (DNS). It is a distributed network information lookup service that maps host names to Internet addresses and maps Internet addresses to host names. It also facilitates Internet mail routing by supplying a list of hosts that accept mail for other hosts. The named.conf file is the BIND configuration file that allows you to specify a number of features using statement and comments.

hp-ux usermod

Usermod(1M) modifies the user login on the system by changing the login related information. In this enhancement, usermod(1M) has been modified to selectively prevent the movement of home directories with -m option.

hp-ux kerberos

Kerberos Client (KRB5CLIENT)  is a Web upgrade for KRB5-Client. KRB5-Client is a part of the core HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2 operating systems. HP-UX provides Kerberos Client (KRB5CLIENT) software including libraries, header files and utilities for implementing secured client/server applications in either 32-bit or 64-bit development environment.

hp-ux LoginNLS

The HP-UX 11iv1 Software Pack Bundle contains the product LoginNLS. This new feature allows the customer to set the LANG environment variable to select what language login(1) messages are displayed in.

hp-ux publickey-ldap

The HP-UX 11iv1 EP/NCF Software Pack bundle, ONC ENHKEY, contains new functionality for Publickey on 11i to support the LDAP database as a repository for the public/secret keys. This contains updates to the chkey/newkey commands to create and change the public/secret keys pairs and the getpublickey/getsecretkey APIs to retrieve the public/secret keys.

hp-ux pam-requisite

The PAM-Requisite product, enables PAM to recognize and support the requisite flag in the /etc/pam.conf file.  The requisite flag will cause PAM to return immediately if a service module returns a failure.  Without this product installed, the use of the requisite flag will cause an error to be reported and the PAM service module that was specified with the requisite flag will be skipped.

hp-ux 64-bit pam

HP-UX 11iv1 supports 32-bit PAM applications but not 64-bit PAM applications. HP-UX 64-Bit PAM delivers 64-bit versions of the PAM libraries to support 64-bit PAM applications on some configurations of 11iv1. Select this link, hp-ux 64-bit pam, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux enhanced core

The HP-UX Enhanced Core contains kernel support to dump core of a setuid/setgid process (whose effective user/group ID is different from it's real user/group ID). Select this link, hp-ux enhanced core, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux mtioscan11i

The HP-UX MtIOscan11i contains kernel support features for multi-threaded ioscan capability. The product provides this support by enabling multi-threading in the boot stage, much before IO discovery. This allows the system to perform the device discovery operation in a parallel fashion. This reduces the amount of time spent in device discovery and hence results in a significant improvement in the system boot time. The boot time improvement is significant in the systems with large device configurations where a considerable fraction of boot is spent in device discovery. Select this link, hp-ux mtioscan11i, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux strong random number generator

The HP-UX Strong Random Number Generator provides a secure, non-reproducible source of true random numbers for applications with strong security requirements, such as for generating encryption keys. Select this link, hp-ux strong random number generator, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux shadow passwords

The HP-UX Shadow Passwords enhance system security by hiding user encrypted passwords in a shadow password file. Encrypted passwords previously stored in the publicly readable /etc/passwd file can be optionally moved to the /etc/shadow file, which is accessible only by a privileged user. Select this link, hp-ux shadow passwords, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux enhanced mmap

The HP-UX Enhanced MMAP product contains virtual memory support features for enhanced mmap(2). Applications which perform mmaps in a pattern so as to map, unmap and remap the same range of address space will experience performance benefits if this product is installed. Select this link, hp-ux enhanced mmap, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux enhanced autofs

The HP-UX AutoFS is a filesystem that automatically mounts directories as they are accessed and unmounts them when they are no longer needed. Enhanced AutoFS provides improvements in reliability and performance over other currently offered automounting facilities on HP-UX. Select this link, hp-ux enhanced autofs, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux device ids

The HP-UX Device IDS will provide a significant performance improvement for AutoFS at unmount time because automountd will no longer have to make over-the-wire calls to every server in the mount table at unmount time before unmounting a file system. This enhancement will cause file system device ID's to be stored in the system mount table (/etc/mnttab) along with all the other mount information. Once this is installed, applications can match file system entries in the mount table based on device ID. Select this link, hp-ux device ids, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux boot authenticator for standard mode of HP-UX

A site's security policies may require users to authenticate before they can boot the system into single-user mode. Previously, this feature was only available on a system that had been converted to Trusted Mode. The product now provides such a secure single-user mode with root password protection, but without the overhead of converting the system to trusted mode. Select this link, hp-ux Boot Authenticator for Standard Mode of HP-UX, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux compressed dump

On large memory machines, HP-UX Compressed Dump improves system availability by speeding up the dump for HP-UX in the event of a system crash. Select this link, hp-ux compressed dump, to access the downloadable feature.

base hp-ux veritas file system

The base HP-UX VERITAS File System 3.5 (HP OnlineJFS/JFS 3.5) is an extent-based and intent-logging file system geared toward UNIX environments requiring high performance and availability for large volumes of data. Select this link, hp-ux veritas file system 3.5, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux processor sets

HP-UX Processor Sets provides a flexible mechanism for managing system processor resources among multiple workloads, users, and departments within an enterprise. Select this link, hp-ux processor sets, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux 11i ipv6

HP-UX 11i Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) provides the infrastucture to enable the next wave of internet devices, such as PDAs, mobile phones, and appliances. Select this link, hp-ux 11i ipv6, to access the downloadable feature.

hp-ux virtual partitions

HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) is a powerful tool that enables you to run multiple instances of the HP-UX 11i Operating Environment simultaneously on one rp7410, rp7405, rp8400, Superdome, rp5470/L3000, or rp7400/N4000 HP server.
